FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Club Partners with Army School-Age Programs in Your Neighborhood Pueblo, CO, August 7, 2007- -As Army personnel face perils throughout the world in defense of freedom and our nation, their brave young women and men need to know that when they are on the front lines someone is taking care of their families. The Army’s Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command is partnering exclusively with Boys & Girls Clubs across the country to help serve these families. The Army had developed ASPYN, Army School-age Program in Your Neighborhood to serve school-age children, ages five to twelve, so that communities serving Army personnel may provide quality youth development services for their families living off base. Boys & Girls Club/Girls Inc. in Pueblo & Otero Counties is one of only two youth development organizations in the country that meet the standards to affiliate with Girls Incorporated and Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Their Agreement with the Army will require even greater standards for quality services. Specifically, the Army is requiring and will pay for the Clubs accreditation with the National After-school Association. The Army is giving the Club two years to complete the accreditation process, and the Club may serve Army families while they are accrediting. With the accreditation also comes licensing with the Colorado State Department of Human Services. These standards will increase the service quality and capacity of the Club so that all Southeastern Colorado families will benefit as well as the Army families. Once accredited, maintaining the standards and accreditation will be required. # # # For More Information Contact: |
