Our Mission                                              

The mission of the Boys & Girls Club/Girls Inc. of Pueblo County & Lower Arkansas Valley is to effectively meet the needs of youth, to help them overcome the effects of disadvantaged circumstances and to develop their capacities to be self-sufficient, responsible members of the community; and to serve as vigorous advocates for youth, focusing attention on the special needs of girls and special needs of boys.

Sendi Peregrino, a Pueblo Boys & Girls Club\Girls Inc. club member, was selected as Boys & Girls Clubs of America 2009 Colorado Youth of the Year at its annual banquet at the Colorado Governor’s Mansion in Denver.  With this honor, Miss Peregrino won a four year scholarship to Adams State College and a $1,000 scholarship from Reader’s Digest.  The national Boys & Girls Clubs of America program recognizes superior leadership skills, academic achievement, obstacles overcome and outstanding service to Boys & Girls Clubs and the community.

Steak n' Burger To Kick-Off Wild Wild West Fest                      

Boys & Girls Club/Girls Inc. hosted their Annual Steak n' Burger at the Pueblo Convention Center on Saturday, May 9.   The Steak n' Burger night started out with the talents of Casey Brock, singer\guitarist, while guests arrived to the reception of cocktails and appetizers.   Guests were greeted by Boys & Girls Club/Girls Inc. members as they entered the main room of mechanical bulls, ropers and rodeo queens.  Western attire was optional, but many guests were sporting their western wear.   Lee Douglas, a well known broadcasting personality for work on KOAA-TV, served as the Master of Ceremonies.  The Pueblo Fire Fighters were in attendance to volunteer for the evening and to do the Presentation of Colors, as Brandi Halverson sang the National Anthem.  After the dinner, Sendi Peregrino, was presented a Proclamation Award from State Representative, Sal Pace and delivered her Colorado Youth of the Year speech.   The night came to a close with a Live Auction conducted by Darrell Neu and the closing of many Silent Auction Items.  All in all, the Steak n' Burger event was a  huge success!    The Board of Directors and Club Staff would like to give many thanks to all the volunteers that assisted with the setup and helped throughout the event.  And, a big thank you  to all our guests that came to support the 2009 Steak n' Burger.
